About the Institute

Our Mission

Argonne depends on the quality of its leaders, and your career depends on your professional growth. From guidance to training to opportunities for greater engagement, we support the laboratory’s need to develop visionary leaders who will advance our mission-driven science now and for the future.

The Leadership Institute offers a wide range of services, guidance and resources to help shape and cultivate leadership potential in individuals at all levels so they can thrive and maximize their unique contributions to science, engineering and Argonne’s mission. These include coaching and consulting, mentoring and networking assistance, support for advancing a diverse culture and opportunities and resources for professional development.

Achieving Diversity and Inclusion: An Evidence-based Approach

Traditional approaches to overcoming barriers to diversity in STEM have largely failed to produce meaningful change. Joan C. Williams, Distinguished Professor of Law and Hastings Foundation Chair at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and founding director of WorkLife Law, addressed this dilemma in a talk at Argonne on June 1, 2016.
